Software Case Study

The Client

Established in 1954, Williams Electrical Service has grown to be one of the premier Electrical Contracting companies in WA employing in excess of 100 staff. Williams comprise a number of specialist divisions including voice and data cabling, fibre optics, CCTV and automated controls, specialist LPG gas dispensing and storage vessels maintenance and a sheet metal and metal fabrication workshop which together operate across a range of commercial and light industrial sectors. The future vision for the company is to consolidate its position in the market and continue to develop its range of services on offer.

The Challenge

Whilst Williams were happy with their services software, they needed a package that would also handle their financials and control fixed price projects. They wanted the software to be totally and fully integrated and useful for all their business units. Williams Electrical were referred to LEVESYS by another satisfied LEVESYS client, however undertook their software review with care and due diligence. Williams knew something had to be done but it needed to be done properly, without short cuts. They looked at several options for their software supply and the decision came down to either doing nothing, which was not really an option, or implementing LEVESYS.

The Solution

LEVESYS conducted a comprehensive audit of Williams’ requirements over several meetings. The implementation was conducted over several weeks in measurable bites all in accordance with a prepublished schedule. Fine tuning was completed and Williams “went live” on schedule.

The Result

“If we follow procedures, ALL costs are covered and recorded” said Wayne Carter, Williams’ MD and Chairman. “LEVESYS has helped us track service and, in capturing all chargeable costs, has made us more profitable. We now have a complete Profit and Loss for each department so we can drill down to which department is making money and which is not.” “LEVESYS has reduced our risks as we now know which jobs to choose and which to let go.” “Additionally, we have reduced the costs of our External Accountant who now acts as a referee and provides a second opinion rather than producing our financial accounts.” “Whilst the implementation was a steep learning curve for us, the conclusion is we have done the right thing – we have a handle on the business that is more than dollars and cents. And we know there is the potential to grow with the extra modules available from LEVESYS.”

Anton Barry, Williams’ Administration Manager and CPA, added “The support is particularly pleasing. We have direct access to knowledgeable people who live in the same world as us.”
