The Client

Devlyn Constructions was formed in 1991. Known for quality workmanship said to be achieved by their “hands on” approach, Devlyn Constructions provide their clients with a full range of services for their building or office alterations. Excelling in projects many other contractors find “messy”, a selection of the services Devlyn provides includes office fitouts, new constructions, alterations, additions and refurbishment work.

The Challenge

Devlyn already had a competitor’s product from the United States, however with the onset of GST for Australian companies, Devlyn found their software lacking. Whilst the competitor’s software provided Devlyn with their estimating needs, the new Goods and Services Tax required more local knowledge to implement fully and correctly. Additionally, Devlyn’s training requirements could not be met by manuals alone and the local reseller of their software was unable to deliver personal on site training. This lead to Devlyn conducting a thorough search of exactly what was available for construction companies in Australia.

The Solution

Initially Devlyn reviewed the most likely software providers, however LEVESYS was unique in that it was 100% Australian owned and operated, GST was built into the system, trainers were available to go onsite and support had a guaranteed response time of less than 2 hours. “We genuinely didn’t find anything else we thought would do the job” said Greg Howell, Office Manager at Devlyn. After a full demonstration of the capability of LEVESYS, Devlyn contacted other LEVESYS clients to hear their views on the benefits they had experienced since implementing LEVESYS.

The Result

LEVESYS was installed at Devlyn in June 2008. It has worked reliably and Greg reports everyone is using the system. “Our contract managers are no longer relying on administrative personnel to provide reports,” he said. “Forecasting is now a time-efficient process and job reporting enables us to manage by exception. The review process of any job is cost effective and managed. “LEVESYS has provided us with real cost savings – we are now raising 60% less credit notes tied back to customer complaints as all invoicing is clear and transparent – and clearly identified process improvements which drives up Shareholder value. LEVESYS has achieved all we wanted and more.” Greg and his team also gain great benefit from attending the Community Forums run by LEVESYS in all capital cities in Australia. “Some companies keep their user base away from each other, however LEVESYS sees the benefit in providing the opportunity for their client base to give them feedback and to talk to others in the industry.”
